Scarflema

My friend Lynne always does the cutest thing with her accessories hats, scarfs- you name it she can work it. So I've been eyeing all the cute "summer scarfs" and took the plunge on Saturday and got one. Only I'm not exactly sure how to wear it/what to wear it with. Here are some things I tried:

*knotted in the middle (worn straight down the front)

*loop through knotted (worn to the side)

*winter scarf wrapped around the neck with two tails hanging down the front

(I did my best with the photos was not very sucessful and don't look great, I couldn't get the first one)

I need some serious fashion advise. Please help me so I can start looking all cute with my scarf before I actually need to wear one when it gets cold!

Girl's weekend

I was lucky to have a girl's weekend with one of my greatest friends, Jenny. We shopped in Williamsburg (see scarf post tomorrow). Were I got some great deals and some great cute new stuff for fall. We also check out the new festival in Iowa City: Sand in the City.

This is my favoirte one, maybe I'm just a little bias about the subject :)

When ever I am with Jenny we always go get Mexican. We tried out the newest one in town last night, El Cactus.

Great food, I'd give it 4 out of 5 stars! When I asked the waiter to take our picture he asked with hats? Yes Please!

Blog makeover

I finally got insipred this evening to re-do the blog.

It needs a better title, we can all agree on that. So i'm looking to my readership to give us ideas. Please submit soon so we can get it changed!

Sorry I've been MIA again this week. I have lots to post about and hopefully can start tonight or tomorrow. I've been studying hard for a huge test I have on Thursday so that has been taking all my time.

State fair dairy show

Near and dear to my heart at the state fair is the Jersey 4-H dairy show. Growing up I raised may Jerseys and they are my favorite breed. For 8 years every summer I did exactly what you see the kids in the video doing, except I never made it to champion competition at the state fair.

Wired Science News for Your Neurons Biggest Meteor Shower of the Year Peaked last night...

Last night John and I went on a date to see the Perseid meteor shower which happens every year in August. You can see more info about it here.
We have a long history of going on dates to meteor shower starting back on our second date when we went to one in November and froze our toes off. Until this point its been kind of sketchy if we really saw anything and always walked away going well at least the food was good (we usually have wine, cheese, and crackers) but we didn't really see anything. Not last night....
Last night we both saw at least 6 of the same meteors- how cool. They where very bright and brilliant. If you get a chance I'd recommended trying to check it out again tonight as its a fun date (or non date) and well worth your time.

State fair time is coming and I am SO SO freaking excited for it! Today is preparation John and I started looking at foods on a stick. John has claimed to eaten them all when in reality he hasn't- he has a bit of catching up to do!

motor boat

John and I recently purchased a small motor for our canoe to provide us with my options for going out into the water. We can now use it with motor or without, the motor and all it needs is complete removable from the canoe. We took it out the Iowa river (where is starts to become the 'lake' north of Iowa City) to test it out.





The motor is wonderful. John did a great job putting it all together as we just bought all the pieces and John made everything work together. What a handy husband!
We defiantly like this new addition to the canoe and hope to enjoy it many times the rest of the summer.

I have an exciting announcement to make....

I have a new job!!

I start my new job tomorrow as it is with the my current company. It has been a quick change over to the new job as I will continue to do my current position part time and my new job part time until January 1st 2010. I'll let you know more what I do after I have a chance to get in a learn a bunch tomorrow.
